elisabeth montgomery arrington; ▪ born elisabeth montgomery on october 1, 1989 in danbury, connecticut to mitch and lisa arrington. only answers to betsy. no one calls her elisabeth, but her mother and her grandmother junie. she is named after her maternal great grandmother and paternal grandfather. she prefers to keep her middle name a closely guarded secret. ▪ is the youngest of three. her brother walter ( who prefers to go by his middle name corey ) is two years older than her and her sister nelle is merely ten months older. nelle has always been the favorite and corey the screw up. despite being the baby of the family, betsy suffers from what she likes to call forget middle child syndrome. ▪ moved to longport, new jersey when she was two. her mother wanted to be closer to her parents so she could help take care of her ailing father. the move was only supposed to be temporary, but grandpa walt lived longer than expected ( he's still alive and kicking right now ) and the arringtons made longport their permanent address. ▪ the move to longport proved to finally be the straw that broke the camel's back when it came to her parents' marriage. three kids, two full-time careers and one nervous breakdown later, the arringtons finally realized that perhaps being married wasn't such a good idea. but after a trial separation, they decided to stick it out for the kids. the two have slept in separate bedrooms since betsy was six. ▪ her parents train wreck of marriage made her realize at a very young age that no one gets their happy ending. betsy knows that love is not a fairytale. there are no knights in shining armor or princes waiting to sweep her off her feet. ▪ received a sewing machine for her eighth birthday from her gpa walt. put a sewing needle threw her thumb the first time she tried to make anything. a trip to the er and a tetanus shot later, betsy swore off ever trying to sew again. however, that didn't last long once betsy got the hang of threading a needle. ▪ made her first dress at the age of ten and has been in love with designing ever since. betsy has hundreds of sketchbooks in her closet filled with dress designs. she would love to have some sort of career in the fashion industry, but knows the chances of that are slim to none. not only is it a very competitive field, but her parents aren't too thrilled by her future career plans. ▪ underwent rhinoplasty for the first time when she was twelve. during an epic battle for the telephone with her brother and sister, betsy ended up with her nose broken in two places, corey ended up needing stitches on his arm where nelle bit him and nelle ended up with three broken fingers. betsy had rhinoplasty a second time last summer to correct her deviated septum. she is very happy with her current nose. ▪ became best friends with archie kenwright after he stood up for her at school and subsequently, stalked her all the way to her house just to make sure she got home without any trouble. she knew of him from their brothers being friends and sharing the same classes at school, but had never really paid him all that much attention until he told off her former best friend because she had small boobs. they shared an after school snack and the rest is history. ▪ smoked pot for the first time when she was fourteen with her brother and his friend roman. corey swore up and down that betsy would love it, but she was completely indifferent to the whole experience. it felt cool to be included in something that her brother liked to do ( corey was all ready a major pot head at 16 ), but betsy wasn't down for getting high every day after school. ▪ spends a good majority of her time defending her brother and his behavior to anyone and everyone. her brother might have never met a drug that he didn't like, but betsy will never openly admit that her brother is a junkie. she knows that corey has a serious problem, but betsy will do anything and everything in her power to take care of her brother. whether he needs money for drugs or someone to be with him while he detoxes - betsy is always there for him. ▪ isn't as close with her sister as she was growing up. nelle has always been the favorite and that didn't change when she went away to college. but betsy can't really resent her sister all that much because she kept betsy out from underneath her parents microscope for years. while betsy and corey are infinitely closer than betsy and nelle, she still hangs out with her sister a great deal and would do anything for her. even if her sister steals her clothes and rags on her for being a nerd and her supposed poor choices when it comes to the opposite sex. ▪ started dating archie the summer before tenth grade. she'd only ever had one very short-lived relationship in the ninth grade ( betsy dumped him because she was only 15 and so not ready to go all the way ) and had no idea what she was in for. it was pretty much love at first sight ( or stalk actually ). even if betsy doesn't believe in sillythings like that. ▪ graduated from longport high school last may as third in her class. instead of attending columbia university as planned, betsy decided to enroll part time at community college in order to intern at a fashion magazine in new york city and to also stay at home to help take care of her brother who was recently released from rehab. she spends three to four nights a week in the city and the rest of the time at home in longport where she still begrundingly lives with her parents and her trainwreck of a brother and attends her part time classes. she still hopes to one day attend the fashion intsitute of technology. ▪ has two dogs ( waffles and don corleone ) that she treats like her children. she can't imagine her life without them and she basically considers them to be her best friends after archie. ▪ her father owns a chain of hardware stores in new york and new jersey. betsy fancies herself pretty handy with a hammer and knows a thing or two about plumbing thanks to hanging out in her dad's store in longport and occasionally running the register when they're short staffed. ▪ broke up with archie at the end of march for various reasons. the pressure from their relationship was too much and betsy couldn't take it anymore. they worked at being just friends and things seemed to be okay for awhile. that was until archie got a dui and betsy had to bail him out of jail. one drunken sexual encounter later and the two of them were worse off than when they had broken up. and things didn't get any better once archie was shipped off to brazil to live with his grandmother and think about why he drank, did drugs and flunked his senior year of high school. ▪ betsy spent her entire summer pining for archie ( even if she was the one to end things ) and visiting her brother in rehab. despite all archie's efforts, betsy has yet to take him back. six months is an awfully long time to have to think about things, but betsy isn't done reavaluating every single aspect of their realtionship ever. but that's okay for now because they were best friends before and they're best friends now. besides, archie will tell anyone who will listen that he and betsy are eventually going to get back together. it's inevitable. quick facts; ▪ elisabeth montgomery arrington, goes by betsy ▪ nineteen years old ▪ born october 1, 1989 ▪ part-time college freshman ▪ can play the piano and the guitar ▪ is obsessed with anything and everything jimmy eat world ▪ loves her dogs and archie more than anything ▪ wants to be a fashion designer or journalist someday ▪ is a little bit of a music snob even though her musical taste is often questionable ▪ likes to change the words to popular songs so they're about people she knows ▪ has a huge book collection and loves reading ▪ enjoys baking ( and eating ) elaborate desserts ▪ has a serious obsession with high tops and designer boots ▪ couldn't live without her iPhone, iPod or macbook pro ▪ made her own prom dress out of two other dresses she couldn't decide between ▪ has an internship at a fashion magazine in new york city and lives there three nights a week storylines; ~kenwright: her kumquat ~emmalyn: my bff emma said oh she's just being betsy ~mcclane: best guy pal
