Avery A. She was a remarkably serious little girl who paid more attention to BBC1 than Channel 4. She has been an au pair since she was 18, she took her A-Levels early and skipped 6th form, she was in college by 17, attended the University of Brighton and studied early childhood development and childcare with a Bachelors in political science. She moved to the United States when she was 19, being responsible for the head of the Federal Bank of New York's three children. She attended NYU from age 20 to 22, earning a minor degree in International Affairs. She has worked for Senator Gregory Miers since 2006. She has great political aspirations, but doesn't mind in which country she reaches her goal. She has a work visa and a greencard and has considered filing for permanent residency. Being young, beautiful, and privileged, she has been the subject of many D.C. fashion profiles, has upstaged young actresses in the clothing department, and has made a name for herself in the gossip columns as one fierce bitch (corresponding to Miers' reputation as Washington's pitbull). She is regarded as an inspiration by some (coming from a lower class foreign background, breaking onto both the political and pop culture scene simultaneously, being utterly devoted to her job) and a joke by others (pretty young thing working for widowed older Senator, using said hard earned money to furnish closet with designer labels, tolerating and sometimes encouraging her borderline celebrity status). Despite these compliments and criticisms, she does not indulge the press with sordid details, she refuses to engage in conversation when she's with the Senator's daughter, and she is dependably polite and professional. Avery has never been open about her family life and will not discuss the more personal aspects of her job with the press but it is known that both of her parents are dead, one from sickness, the other by suicide. She has a younger sister who resides in England. In February of 2009, Avery and Senator Miers terminated their professional relationship to embark on a romantic one. Both came under heavy scrutiny but have not altered their plans because of media speculation. Avery has made it as clear as possible that she is not using Senator Miers to get ahead professionally, and Senator Miers issued a statement that assured America their relationship began only after Avery's professional position had been terminated. This is not entirely true, as Miers and Avery had been sleeping together for nearly a month before she quit. Those details are not known publicly. As of April 2009, Avery works as a secretary in Representative John Boehner's office and continues to work her way up the political ladder as Miers considers a bid for the 2012 presidency of the United States of America. In June, the couple were married at the National Cathedral following Avery's surprise pregnancy. She quit her job with John Boehner in July. Devastatingly, Avery's pregnancy encountered complications, and she delivered a stillborn daughter in September. Though having encountered similar pain the past with her parents' deaths, the loss of her daughter profoundly affected her, and she took an impulsive flight to London. She has remained there for the past two months, exploring her more creative side to deal with her loss. Professionally, she has co-written a short novel, which has yet to be picked up by a publisher, and recently gained a place at Gentleman's Quarterly, writing for News + Politics.
