common reasons for rejection.
So your application has disappeared and we’ve just done adds! We’re sorry, but unfortunately this means that you’ve been rejected. There are a few common causes of rejection:
You didn’t follow the rules.
They’re there for a reason. Did you follow the specifications set down here or did you just assume that you knew everything? Are there extra words in your username? Are there extra people or communities on your friendslist? Is your character a needless dramallama that none of us want around?
Your credits are retarded.
Does your character have a bunch of starring roles? Are most of their roles stolen straight from your PB’s career? Do you have more than one voice and they’re incompatible? Is your character doing ten movies while simultaneously releasing three albums and a book? Go find your realism and come back when you’ve fixed the problem.
Your writing examples are sub-par.
This is the rejection reason no one ever wants to hear. Example journals should contain works gleaned from the best of what you’ve written. If it’s crap, riddled with spelling and grammar mistakes, doesn’t make sense, or is overwrought and trite, then we’re going to assume that all of your writing is crap and no amount of talking will prove otherwise. Only further examples will prove otherwise. We don’t want purple prose. Quantity does not equal quality. If you’re using twenty words where five would suffice, then you’re doing it wrong. If you have paragraph upon paragraph but say nothing, you’re doing it wrong. The spelling and grammar mistakes can be corrected by a spell checker and having someone read over what you’ve written to make sure that it all makes sense and meshes together. Take it as constructive criticism and use it to better yourself.
You’ve chosen to give your character a disease/handicap/whatever that you clearly haven’t bothered to research.
Yeah, we can tell. We’re educated, intelligent people, and believe us, we can tell when you’re pulling stuff out of your ass. If you just have to have your character have some kind of disease or something, research it. Seriously. It’s the internet, and everything’s on it. Look some shit up and stop being lazy attention-seeking drama whore.
If you are rejected, feel free to PM us and ask us for an exact reason why. We’re more than happy to tell you. And when we say “please feel free to reapply!” following the reasons, we do mean that. We just want you to follow the rules. There’s no need to cop an attitude with us because we don’t let you in. No hard feelings, just an opportunity to better yourself.
Under no circumstances do we ever want the friends of someone who was rejected to email or PM us asking why. It’s none of your beeswax. If your friend wants you to know, they can tell you, but in the interest of their privacy, we will not.
Your rejection is never, ever based on your PB. We promise. We judge you by your writing, the way you've developed your character, and the credits you've selected. In that order.
