Brief Biography/List of Detailed Facts: Born in Brooklyn, New York to two Italian immigrants Johnny LaMarca was brought up to dream big as long as his path was by the book. Johnny didn't have to look far to see far fetched dreams become reality. His aunt Greta Ainsley became a well established actress in her mid-twenties and is considered to be the face of empowerment for his generation. Always keeping in contact, later on it would be his dear ole aunt and uncle that opened the doors of Hollywood for him.
Growing up the runt of a big family, Johnny always had to prove himself on his block in Sheepshead Bay and in private school. English was his first language at school but at home they only spoke Italian in the LaMarca household that had its social barriers for Johnny and it was difficult for him to distinguish normal American culture with only his older siblings to guide him. With a self-diagnosed case of ADD he was very figidity in school and his physical ticks came along with nerves. Due to his hyperactive disposition Johnny had more misunderstandings with the school bullies and no luck with making any friends.
In high school he decided that things would be different and worked with a speech therapist the summer prior. High school brought a few opportunities for Johnny. He emerged as a freshman as just a name and built his reputation back up. The ticks were gone, but Johnny's awkwardness was still in tact and he was labeled as a class clown instead of the weirdo that he was once known as. Once he earned a name for himself, he relished in it, playing the card for all that it was worth. It was a great outlet for him to separate his insecurities from himself and helped in social situations, which made him quite popular with the ladies. He wasn't a player by any means but he did know how to charm with his quick wit and his humor, traits that only bubbled prior. Even though he made his classmates chuckle with his impersonations Johnny lacked in the friends department and wound up hanging out with what his mother would refer to as, "unsavory characters" (i.e. burn outs) and together his small pack of buddies got high in the boys bathroom, a place where he also enjoyed crappy hot lunches too.
It was during junior year when Johnny decided to act seriously about his acting career. Even though he had a list of crushes the crème of the crop was lead in Romeo & Juliet so he saw an "in". Showing up a half hour late, and stuttering through most of his lines, Johnny still managed to pull off his audition and nabbed the lead role of Romeo and a "true artist" was born.
After the play Johnny joined a local theater group and gained a lot of encouragement and the thespian guidance that his parents couldn't provide for him. Stuck in a world between being a theater geek and getting high, Johnny had to choose between the two -- kind of. At 17 Johnny proposed a deal with his mother and father promising them if he could cash in his bonds and move out to LA to become an actor, he would quit smoking pot and get his GED there. With the help of his older brother it took the summer to convince them, but they gave him and Johnny held up his end of the bargain.
It took him two years to get his resume up and running, landing his first lead role starring as Bubble Boy. After the widely panned embarrassment of his first major motion picture, Johnny enlisted in The Robert Carnegie School of acting, studying with the best teachers and working diligently. It was there where he met his writing partner (
kestin), the two clicked and for three years straight the duo wrote Juno, Knocked Up and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. In 2003 the acting lessons paid off gaining him attention in a modest role for Party Monster. Since then he's scored roles in ensemble pieces such as I Heart Hucakbees, Milk, Inglorious Bastards and Crash.
Hollywood took notice in 2005 with the success of Crash, and he was finally able to sell his scripts, creating an upstream of hits, a financial gain for Columbia Pictures and a new era for BroComedy. With the money rolling in strong, Johnny took advantage, creating a fashionable style all on his own that he dubbed, "classy grunge", a line of fine dining wear mixed with loud patterns and his favorite combination of flannel and skinny jeans. His charisma skyrocketing as high as his career, it's hard to pinpoint just how many "hats" Johnny has in his bag of tricks.
