Though younger brother Hillel shot to stardom not long after graduating high school, Malka abandoned childhood dreams of being a comedian to pursue what she considered a more practical career path. Majoring in French and Advertising at Northwestern University, she commuted to school in order to stay close to her family. The year she graduated, she moved to New York and roomed with close friend Zenobia Berkowitz. Malka took an internship at Conan but in their free time, the two women began improvising and writing a play surrounding the lives of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. The success of the off-broadway, gender-bending production helped the pair gain notoriety and eventually landed Malka a writing/acting gig on the American version of the hit UK show "The Office". Occupation: Actress/Writer Other stuff: Malka grew up with a variety of nicknames including Molly, Molls, Levy and Mal. While attending a Catholic High School, she struggled with her Jewish identity and went with the Americanized version of her name to fit in. In college however, she joined a group on campus that helped reinvigorate her faith. She is now quite conservative in her lifestyle, and fully intends to marry a Jew. Hobbies of hers include cooking (kosher), singing karaoke, reading romance novels and cleaning. She recently broke off her four year engagement to Brian Schwartz, an accountant based in New York City. |
