Biography: Maria Fortoula Miers is the youngest and only girl of four children in the Miers family, an unexpected pregnancy for Mrs. Miers, who was 51 at the time. Maria’s upbringing was not as strict as the boys in her family- two of which pursued politics in their careers- but she was still enrolled in some of the most prestigious academies in the Boston area and held to a very high standard. By the time Maria was born, the family name carried a lot of weight both in Washington and Hollywood. Her brothers had all moved out of the house, gone to college or gotten married (or both). She was very much the baby and very much wanted to be seen independently from her successful siblings. Though she is very passionate about her schooling, she began to pursue modeling at a young age, and loves fashion. Her next goal? Bringing back the pill box hat (the Miers are often compared to the Kennedys, so Maria fancies herself the Jackie-O of their family). She graduated Milton Academy in 2008 and enrolled at Yale University the following year (following in the footsteps of her brother Iason). Now on summer vacation having finished her freshman year, she’s pursuing more modeling and attending more awards, premieres and events than ever before.

She also is very well traveled and educated, but finds herself more and more drawn to the life of a true socialite. She has a passion for music, a natural on piano and a soprano in her High School choir. Politically, she calls herself a moderate but has very liberal social beliefs- particularly in regards to animal rights. She is a vegetarian.
