Neither as accomplished or confident as Bellatrix nor as beautiful and fair as Narcissa, Andromeda played the part of the middle child, relegated to but not content with fading into the background. She finally got her lead role on the day she was blasted from the family tapestry for harboring a demon spawn and/or baby, depending on whom you asked and agreeing to marry a muggleborn. Ironic how the best thing that ever happened to her happens to be directly tied to the worst thing that ever happened to her family.

BLURB: Bellatrix Black is full to the brim (with perhaps a little bit spilling over) with passion. Her work, her cause, and her family are the only things that matter to her, and she spends her days preserving them with a ferocity that has yet to be matched by anyone that has crossed her path. If one exists in her favour, they find behind them a force to be reckoned with and an ally until death or dishonour. But, on the same token, if one find oneself to Bellatrix’s proverbial left, that same great force that could have offered him or her loyalty, protection, and (in some cases) admiration will not rest until he or she is eradicated. Preferably with a great deal of torture beforehand.

BLURB: Cygnus Phineas Black, pureblood, Knight, ex-dueling champion, youngest son, father of the Black sisters. Walburga's failure to conceive and Alphard's bachelorhood landed him the responsibility of continuing the bloodline, and so he was wed to the French Druella Rosier. The passionless marriage left them with three children -- all daughters, never a son: Bellatrix, his favorite; Andromeda, the odd one out; and Narcissa, the baby. Attended Hogwarts while Tom Riddle was still a student and so had a fast-track entry to the all boy's club of the Knights of Walpurgis. Purist ideology was never a question with Cygnus, but unlike many, he is not blinded by Riddle's charisma -- his allegiance is to the Blacks first. There is only one sure way to shake Cygnus from his cool, and that is to threaten his family -- The Family, as it were, capital letters and all. Like the bird that is his namesake, any perceived danger to his kin will rouse an anger that is frightening and almost deranged; he had to be magically restrained from setting off after Ted Tonks once the degree of his involvement with Andromeda was revealed. One of the three Black 1979 deaths.

While she does not contribute to the cause in the way her older sister might, Narcissa does everything she can to support the endeavors of her husband Lucius and the rest of her family. Though she make give off the appearance of fragility, Narcissa is no porcelain doll, possessing a vast amount of loyalty and inner strength. She has also been the only one to give birth to a son and heir- passing the Black blood and lineage on, if not the name.

BLURB: The taciturn patriach of House Black is quiet-tempered, distant, and scholarly—a silent bastion in contrast to his wife's explosive temper. He is unprepared to put his own neck on the line, but respects and reveres those who do. He took what he saw as the 'easy way out' by marrying Walburga Black: his older sister's classmate, his classmate's older sister, and a not-too-distant cousin to boot. But this marriage, contrary to his expectations, has not been easy. Instead, it is loveless but highly utilitarian—they were a hard hand in raising their boys, and he hoped for perfect sons, but they would eventually turn out to be anything but.

Volatile, a ticking bomb, Rabastan is free from the responsibilities of heir, yet is as fundamentalist as all of the wizarding powerhouses put together.

BLURB: A testament to nobility, it would only take a glance to recognize this man as a product of good blood and good breeding -- and to see that he knows it too. The more reserved of the Lestrange brothers, but no less dangerous, Rodolphus exudes a cool aloofness that can strike an individual as charming or arrogant. Above everything, he is his father's son and Voldemort's man, making him quite an intimidating force indeed.
