Overwhelmed with the Ordinary

RAR. @ 11:53 am

Current Mood: bitchy

Just....RAR.

And it's 84 at 11:50 am. Not that I'm complaining, after this long winter, but I'm like, in shock. Holy cow. Should be seeing 95 by this afternoon...

Got girls up and got Karl and went to conferences, sidetracked by ducklings in the 3rd grade classroom, hugs with Jayne's 2nd grade teacher, picked up yearbook orders, hit the book fair, Karl home to get non-cleat shoes, off to mom's, off to Kohl's for summer wear for the girls, $215 later OMG...Jamba Juice, home. Must work now.

Am still angry. Hardly slept. I need to release it, I know.

Have you ever stopped to really think @ 01:48 pm

Current Mood: thoughtful

about how many books you read that were written by people who are now dead?

How about listening to music performed by people who are now dead? I don't mean centuries-old music, but things like Queen, Jimi Hendrix, etc.

It struck me yesterday reading Elizabeth's book. She was here. And now she's not. But the book still is.

Sometimes my brain goes deep.

help @ 03:45 pm

A teacher sent me a document but it's saved as a .docx file. I can't open it. Word gives me symbols. I can't seem to save it *as* anything else from the attachment in my email; it only comes up as the title of the document.

Any ideas?

All hail Terri Hamill and tissue alert! @ 04:04 pm

Current Mood: Amazed

I got the doc opened, and promptly burst into tears.

Karl and Jayne's second grade teacher, retiring after this school year ends:

I started at Eastwood in 1985, and here’s what I’ve noticed about these walls. Families come, some for a short time; others have a wonderful presence for a long time as their children wend their way through the grades. It’s the same for those of us who work here. Some folks aren’t here long, and others are a huge part of the heart of Eastwood for decades. But, in cycles, all the faces, voices, and personalities change. And those Eastwood walls just keep looking the same, welcoming new people with new lives to impact—unmarred by all those it housed previously—and ready to keep rolling along. I have loved my time within these walls, knowing so many great families and friends, but as I leave I’m pleased to know the sheltering will go on and on. Enjoy.

SHE IS SO MY FAVORITE TEACHER AT THIS SCHOOL!!!

Weather is weird @ 05:24 pm

we hit 101-105 on the COAST yesterday. Phoenix? didn't get near it.

Go figure.

All Hail [info]mara_snh as well as Terri! And thanks to [info]dipslikeramon and [info]darththalia, too, for their help with my weird file!

I'm still CRYING over it! Bonnie has given me her home email address so we don't lose touch, and she lives here in town somewhere. We helped her and her husband with computer issues verbally in the past, and talked about how awesome FiOS is, lol.

*sigh* She saved second grade for me. Twice over. *cries some more*
