Overwhelmed with the Ordinary

Sunday was a pretty awesome day. @ 07:54 pm

Current Mood: pleased
Current Music: watching Raiders of the Lost Ark

Although we didn't go down there, Barack Obama was in Portland today at Waterfront Park 75,000 people showed up! Biggest. Rally. In. The. Campaign.

Yes, we rock. :D

A story for the SHarecon zine came to me last night, all at once, while I was taking a cool shower - we were 90 here yesterday and we have no AC in our house. Taking a shower at night has an entirely different quality for me than taking one in the morning, my typical time. It's like the night's darkness causes the act to become even more intimate. Add to that the fact that in the mornings, I blast the radio - we're all waking up! And in the evenings, I don't, for children are trying to sleep on the other side of the wall.

And in all that sheltered feeling in the dark, this story blossomed and I had to write it down.

Wild, huh?

At any rate, I went to bed at like, 1am. I never stay up that late anymore! And then I was awake at 5:30 because our curtains were open for the breeze and the sun came exploring. I'm pleasantly tired.

I read a few stories over for Marion's zine, I betaed one, I sent mine off to be betaed, and I sent it off to the zine publishers.

Now to get BACK to the Boys in Blue story. Heh.

Ran off for a short while to get a tent and a cooler from Grocery Outlet, and Thai food for dinner. Swept the back patio of all the smashed birch seed pods and fallen camellia blossoms. Hung out laundry on the line. Enjoyed the day. Really, really enjoyed it.

Have now put together two more pages for the Yearbook - I have figured out dropshadows! Yay me, with thanks to Thalia and Amberlee for the earlier lessons!

And last but most certainly not least, Happy Birthday to [info]sidewinder, whose art has been on my Con*Strict badge every single year, with her blessing. See icon. She rocks.
