Overwhelmed with the Ordinary

Task list @ 03:00 pm

First, last night I got to drive a 2006 Grand Prix. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

Unfortunately, this particular one had no moon room, no traction control, and 48,000 miles. Just enough of a dealbreaker for us, the mileage. So, I know that it's what I want.

Well, I walked away for a bit after typing the above and Roy had done some research on the car, comparing it to some others and really....this car is a really good fit. We're still hemming and hawing over doing a "wait and see" on if another one appears that has the moonroof and TC and lower mileage, but the price would likely be more than the 10,888 this one is listed at.

Hrm...he's doing some more math. This is the actual car I drove: http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/car/701466347.html The price is $10,888 - either they had dropped the price on the sticker, or they typoed it on the ad there, but this is THE car.

Tasks! Have done all the sewing on the costumes that needed doing, putting in elastic bits to keep Jayne's pants around her waist and the bottom cuffs up under her knees. I also sewed the "torn tshirt" looking camisole thingy right onto the leotard, and the belt to the pants, so I've brought her costume down to a complete top, a complete bottom, a cap and two wristlets. Go me. I am not a pretty seamstress, but the job gets done.

Katie's headband and belt just needed resewn - They're simply a long strip of fabric with the ends sewn together to make a loop/band/belt. They'd used a blanket stitch, I think, and they were just coming loose - terribly done. One quick swoop of a straight stich on the machine and voila, tight and not coming apart. Sheesh. Although the whole bobbin mechanism decided to work loose and she and I had to sort out getting that back together. Who knew there were so many moving parts that the bobbin case sat inside? Still, between her and I, we fixed it. Go us.

Katie also sorted through all the bags we have for Goodwill, inventorying for the taxes. Now we can get the damned bags out of the way and off to the drop off.

I have laundry to fold and more to wash. Dance pictures are tomorrow. Performances in just over two weeks. Karl has a ball game tomorrow; thank goodness for Grandma since I'll be at the dance studio to be sure they take one of Katie and Jayne together.

Karl got a total of $35 in cash for his birthday, two Lego kits he wanted, the boom box we gave him, a candy machine, a voice recorder that you can make go really fast or really slow, cars that were on the cake Grandma made for him, the Star Wars book we gave him, and now he desperately wants to go to Target to shop. That money, it burns, it burns!! I told him no. I'm mean mommy. Seriously, we're trying to keep travel to and from to a minimum or bunch them all together. I have no reason to go to Target today beyond letting him "shop", so no. Next time we go for a reason is soon enough.

Thought I'd share a picture of my grandparents. @ 09:11 pm

Quit QUIT QUIT kicking down the good people, huh?

Some folks really need the break, yeah? Yanno? So CUT THEM SOME SLACK, fer cryin' out loud. Go pick on the wicked people of the world instead, huh? The ones who actually actively try to damage other peoples' lives? Not the ones who love and support and give and give and give.

KNOCK IT OFF ALREADY!
