Introductions are better late than never, yeah? My name's Manda and I'm bringing in my take on Gideon Prewett. I 'm revamping his profile a bit so I don't have anything up for him at the moment. I should be posting his information within the next few days. Just kidding. I had a surge of energy so you can find Gideon here! I'll give you a few tidbits about him, however. • Seventh year Hufflepuff. • Chaser for the house team. • Absolutely loves food. • Enjoys plants and gardening. • Quidditch fanatic. His favourite team is the Falmouth Falcons. As for me, I'm a 24 year old New Englander. I work in a grocery store as a deli clerk. I also help out in the bakery when needed. I've been roleplaying for years. It's kept me fairly sane, I like to think. I'm almost always on AIM at xPunkyMandax. I love backstory and I would love to set things up for past relationships, friendships, enemies, etc. I'm also good at random conversation. It's been awhile since I've been able to play Gideon so I'm very excited and ready to jump in. If anyone has ideas, let me know!

| 001. The Honourable Schoolboy (howhighthemoon) |
I remember a day when I thought that we could not even possibly have more work than we did preceding OWL's. I remember staying up until all hours of the night pouring over textbooks and praying to God that some muse of Potions knowledge would come and fill me with the divine spirit of Potions so that I might have a shot at passing my exams. And once it was over, I remember thinking that school would be somehow easier, that the stress of having a major exam at the end of the school year had dissipated, and that the hours of extra work would magically vanish with it. I remember being relieved once OWL's were over, and I remember looking forward to 6th year. That deluded excitement somehow managed to carry over, even, into 7th year, when I eagerly anticipated the start of my final year, which would surely be pleasantly challenging (though there was a growing sadness at the nearing end of my school days.) I don't think I've been that wrong about something since I found out that St. Nicholas was actually my mum. The level of youth and naivety required to hold such notions makes me cringe in retrospect, but I suppose there's nothing that can be done about past assumptions. Which isn't to say that lessons aren't pleasant, or that they aren't challenging, merely that they have a tendency to become soul-shatteringly difficult, albeit often rewarding. But if it wasn't hard enough to study before, try living with a one-man-tribute-band. We already know that you are, in fact, just a poor boy who needs no sympathy. All sympathy will now be directed at the eardrums and textbooks that are suffering and/or being neglected at your hands. For shame. Additionally, I don't care how much fun you think it is - surprise doorway quidditch is never an excuse to throw textbooks at people. Please keep this in mind in the future to avoid another tragic incident such as the one that occurred yesterday involving a first year, a History of Magic text, and a concussion. -Remus J. Lupin

| Intro Post: Remus J. Lupin (sconed: howhighthemoon) |
Hey kids, I'm Anna. I just finished my first year at Northwestern University in Chicago. I'm a Classics/Art History/Political Science major who takes too many non-major courses to have any realistic expectation of graduating in four years. Usually, these are art or English classes - my favorite authors tend to be Jane Austen, Alexandre Dumas, Ovid, Vergil, Petronius, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Kurt Vonnegut, Albert Camus, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, William Faulkner, J.D. Salinger, and various other (post-)/modernists. I speak limited Italian and Norwegian, but mostly I can say things like, "Are these skis long enough?" I have plans of becoming a part-time ice cream chef in the not too distant future, because my internship doesn't pay at all. I'm bringing you Remus Lupin, the very sweet, often intellectual but socially awkward Gryffindor with passionate feelings about grammar and literary criticism who spends too much of his time in the library. It's highly likely that, sometime during the course of your experience with him, he will a) correct your grammar via a rarely exercised usage rule that's largely defunct but still technically correct b) make an obscure literary reference that he thinks everyone will understand when, in fact, no one does or c) feel very uncomfortable in your presence for reasons undetermined. If you need anything, my email address is anna.katherine@gmail.com, which is also what it is if you do not need anything. And my aim, since the sixth grade, is dramaqueen57575. Looking forward to meeting you all, -Anna

To be capable of everything and do justice to everything, one certainly does not need less spiritual force and èlan and warmth, but more. What you call passion is not spiritual force, but friction between the soul and the outside world. Where passion dominates, that does not signify the presence of greater desire and ambition, but rather the misdirection of these qualities toward an isolated and false goal, with a consequent tension and sultriness in the atmosphere. Those who direct the maximum force of their desires toward the center, toward true being, toward perfection, seem quieter than the passionate souls because the flame of their fervor cannot always be seen.
